We are an Arabian horse breeding farm located in the picturesque Santa Ynez Valley in California. The name "Om El Arab" translates to mean "Mother of All Arabians" in Arabic. Our breeding program began thirty years ago in the Black Forest in Germany before it moved to Santa Ynez. The Om El Arab breeding program is acclaimed as a world leader in producing World, International and National Champions.

Om El Arab is arguably the most successful private breeding program in the world. It would be difficult to research the results from all the shows around the world for the past ten, twenty, thirty or forty years, but we believe that those results would reveal the unparalleled influence of the Om El Arab breeding program.

Om El Arab is a full-service breeding and training facility located on sixty-one acres nestled at the base of the San Rafael Mountains in the picturesque Santa Ynez Valley of California. The architecture of the main barn is Spanish, and the European style is also seen in the airy and horse-friendly open-fronted stalls.

Om El Arab is a magnet for breeders – Sigi & Janina estimate 1000 visitors are drawn here; some to buy breedings, show and breeding stock, but many come simply for the opportunity to learn from and appreciate a unique multi-generational program.

The breeding program now continues into the fourth decade under the capable guidance of Sigi and her daughter Janina Merz. The mother-daughter team is passionate about their horses and has a grand vision for the future of Om El Arab. They look forward to breeding world class horses, and are very excited about the present and the future at this magical place called OM EL ARAB.
